Alumni Achievement Award

The Charlene Nelson Nutting and Tom Nutting Alumni Achievement Award (Alumni Achievement Award) was created in 2015 through collaboration of the Board of Directors of the Glenwood Community School District, the Glenwood Alumni Association and the Glenwood Community School Foundation. This award is the most prestigious award given by the Glenwood community to recognize a graduate of Glenwood Community High School.

The Alumni Achievement Award is named for Tom and Charlene Nutting in recognition of their more than a decade of service to the Glenwood Alumni Association and students of Glenwood High School. Tom Nutting began service on the Board of the Glenwood Alumni Association in 1996 and was elected its President in October of 2000. At that point, the Association became a membership-supported volunteer organization. Tom served on the Board from 1996 to 2014. Charlene joined the Board in 2000, serving as Secretary of the Board from 2004 to 2014 and as Treasurer from 2007 to 2014. Through their leadership and service, the Association has provided more than 45 scholarships amounting to over $20,000 to Glenwood Community High School seniors and has a membership exceeding 200 individuals. Membership more than doubled during Tom and Charlene’s tenure on the Board, in a large part due to Charlene’s authored promotional brochures and highly regarded bi-annual newsletters.

This award is intended to inspire students of the Glenwood Community High School by providing examples of distinction and success that can be achieved with a strong educational foundation from Glenwood Community High School.
